LEADERSHIP LOOKS GOOD ON YOU
Leadership Consultants shape the future of Kappa — starting at the chapter level. The impact you have on our members is truly something special. You help collegiate Kappas with mentorship, leadership training, and more.
I wasn’t ready to start a typical 9-5. I told myself that if I apply and am offered the job, it’s a sign that this is an experience I need to grow into my career. With a full confidence I can say this was the best decision I have ever made! This job is the best career development opportunity — it challenges me to welcome new perspectives and expect the unknown.
– Rowan Dawson, Butler, Senior LC 2026-27
LET’S GET INTO IT
1. In a nutshell, what do you do in this role?
Leadership Consultants provide advice, support, and resources to chapters and advisers, and serve as a link to the organization as a whole. They collaborate with chapters while providing guidance on leadership development, Membership Recruitment, organization, management, and so much more.
2. What does the interview process look like?
The interview process is similar to what you would expect in other job interviews. After you submit your application, you’ll be notified if you’re invited to the first round of interviews, which are virtual. After that, candidates are selected for the second round of interviews, which includes in-person group and individual interviews with Fraternity representatives at Kappa Kappa Gamma Headquarters.
3. What’s the elevator pitch?
Basically, you’re going to learn A LOT. This job is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that opens doors for your future. You’ll learn professional and personal skills that jump-start your career and life. Working with chapter members across North America allows you to build connections — many of which last a lifetime — and travel from coast to coast.
Whether you’re looking to go to graduate school or join the workforce, this opportunity gives you the chance to explore new skill sets while building your resume and network. The skills you learn are transferable to any profession — this makes you super marketable in a variety of fields — and help prepare you for your future. On top of that, it’s a full-time, potentially two-year, salaried job with benefits!

4. Wait, is this a one-year or two-year position?
This is a one-year position, but there’s an opportunity to join the team for a second year. Second-year consultants mentor new Leadership Consultants and continue to grow in their professional development.
5. Will Leadership Consultants make in-person visits in 2027–28?
Yes! It’s a hybrid schedule with both in-person and virtual visits with chapters.
6. Do I need to be a recent graduate?
Most Leadership Consultants are recent graduates. However, you don’t have to be a recent graduate or even in school to apply. We welcome anyone who feels they can bring something to the chapters and relate to collegiate and alumna members.
7. Where’s your home base?
Because we operate on a hybrid schedule of virtual and in-person campus visits, you can make almost anywhere your home base (at your own cost) as long as you have a reliable Wi-Fi connection. While conducting an in-person chapter visit, your home base is your suitcase. If you’re based at a new or established chapter, the school you work with will be your home base. While there, you’ll be provided with a living space, a grocery budget and other necessities.
8. How will this experience benefit my future career?
The career benefits are endless. They range from relationship management and working with a variety of individuals to creative and analytical problem-solving skills. You’ll hone your decision-making capabilities and conflict resolution skills; develop experience with presentations, facilitation, crisis management, coaching and mentoring; and improve communication and interpersonal skills. Consider your resume upgraded.
Former Leadership Consultants have said you get more experience in 10 months as a consultant than in the first 10 years of other careers.
9. Does Kappa cover travel costs?
Yes! Kappa covers the costs of chapter visits and scheduled time off. (Psst … You get Thanksgiving and winter break off.) However, when traveling for fun or taking a trip on a weekend off, Leadership Consultants pay their own way.
10. Is Executive Board experience required?
There are no specific requirements regarding Executive Board experience. While many Leadership Consultants have been actively involved in their chapters, it’s not required. Any leadership experience, including campus and community leadership experience, is valuable.
