What are your post-grad plans? For Rowan Dawson, Butler, it didn’t include diving into a typical 9-to-5 role. She knew she wasn’t ready for that yet. “Graduating college is terrifying, and it was hard to say goodbye to something that has given me so much,” Rowan says. “When I became an LC, I realized that I never have to say goodbye, I just have to ask, ‘What’s next?’”
Leaning Into Growth
In December 2024, Rowan decided to apply for the LC position. She told herself it would be a great way to get involved as an alumna and allow her to grow into her career at the same time. Now, nearly a year later, she relishes the opportunity to share her experiences and help Kappas from coast to coast learn and grow.
Not only is she helping chapter leaders, but Rowan is learning along the way as well. “This job has challenged me to welcome new perspectives and expect the unknown,” she says. Rowan has grown to trust the process and appreciate change because, at the end of the day, she values the authentic experience each chapter provides.

Kappa Connections
Chapters go out of their way to welcome the LCs to their campuses and cities, forging friendships as they do. Being so far from friends and family, Rowan admits that she expected this job to feel lonely at times, “but each week I am welcomed into a new family. The loneliness only kicks in on the plane rides home after I say goodbye to my new friends!” That’s the power of sisterhood.
Join the LC Team
This job is a once in a lifetime experience that truly sets you up for success in any future career. For Rowan, and countless other LCs, the job has taught them transferable skills — time management, autonomy, and conflict resolution, to name a few — that will take you so far in life.
“This is the best career development opportunity,” says Rowan. “And now is literally the only time in your life that you can spend a year (or two) traveling the country and experiencing new places.” Not to mention the amazing women you work alongside — there is no sisterhood like the LC sisterhood, Rowan chimes in.
There is no sisterhood like the LC sisterhood.
