WHAT TO EXPECT
Personal finance is a skill you learn and hone over time. (It doesn’t always come naturally.) With tools and experience, you can take control of your money with confidence.
Guest speaker Maria Brown, Valparaiso, will lead you through basic money management strategies so you can save and spend with confidence. You’ll learn:
- The basics of budgeting, saving, and smart spending.
- Simple strategies for everyday financial situations.
- Habits that support long-term financial wellness.
MEET OUR GUEST SPEAKER
Maria has worked in the financial services industry since 2014, with experience at PNC Financial Services Group, JPMorganChase, and Discover Financial Services (now Capital One Financial Corporation).
She served in several Fraternity volunteer roles related to finance, including chapter Finance Adviser, Foundation Finance Committee member, author of the “Money and Finance” Minerva course, and facilitator of personal finance workshops as a Kappa Education Trainer. Maria currently serves as the Finance Director for the 2024–26 Biennium, overseeing a team of Content Specialists assisting chapter Vice Presidents Finance with budgeting, cash flow management, and financial education.
She lives in Greene County, Pennsylvania, with her husband, William, and works for Capital One as a digital product manager.
