There are so many perks to being a Leadership Consultant, but we managed to narrow it down to our seven favorites. You don’t have to just take our word for it — here’s what the 2025–26 LC team is loving after just three months on the job.
1. Traveling across North America
“Obviously, the travel is amazing! I’ve gotten to see so many new places, and I love exploring with chapter members, whether it’s a small rural town or a big city.” – Anabelle Dillard, Whitman
“I have been able to see parts of the U.S. and Canada that I would have never imagined traveling to on my own. Experiencing the food, culture, and activities are a highlight of every visit!” – Lauren Theisen, Drake
2. Staying involved with Kappa
“I thought the Kappa experience ended after graduating. I applied to be an LC so I didn’t have to say goodbye to Kappa post-grad. In this role, I’ve learned that there are a plethora of opportunities to stay connected and be involved within the organization as an alumna.” – Jessica Rodgers, Florida State
“Graduating college is terrifying, and it was hard to say goodbye to something that has given me so much. When I became an LC, I realized that I never have to say goodbye, I just have to ask, ‘What’s next?’” – Rowan Dawson, Butler

3. Prepping for future career moves
“I hope to start a career in higher education after this. Being an LC has set me up with countless connections with universities and also within Kappa’s own network of sisters. My understanding of higher education as a field has doubled and the scope of skills I have gained has better prepared me for these next steps.” – Cat Chadwick, Virginia Tech
“Being an LC has given me skills that will translate into any career field. I am a more confident, communicative, collaborative, and skillful individual and professional.” – Lauren Theisen, Drake
4. Getting grad school-ready
“This role has prepared me for law school by strengthening my communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Every chapter visit challenges me to listen carefully, analyze situations, and find fair, thoughtful solutions. These are skills that translate directly into the legal field. It’s also taught me how to stay calm under pressure and work effectively with people from all backgrounds, which will be invaluable as I begin my law school journey!” – Mary Elizabeth Sherling, Auburn
“I’m applying for grad school, so it has been tremendously helpful getting to tour campuses and connect with staff members on campus.” – Jessica Rodgers, Florida State
5. Building confidence and key skills
“This job has taught me so many skills and will ensure I stand out among my peers. I learned time management and autonomy. I create my own schedule, which is a great perk but also means I must hold myself accountable to stay on track. I also have grown to trust myself and others. And I have grown in my empathy for others and my ability to use my experiences to help others.” – Rowan Dawson, Butler
“Being an LC has taught me how to be more assertive and advocate for myself.” – Anabelle Dillard, Whitman
“This role has allowed me to develop skills that can be transferred to any profession. I’ve enhanced my public speaking skills, can analyze trends, know how to problem-solve, and coach students.” – Jessica Rodgers, Florida State
“This job challenges me and encourages me to grow by pushing me outside my comfort zone. It taught me to roll with the punches and that there is a solution for everything.” – Sara Khouzam, Loyola

6. Expanding your network
“This job is the ultimate LinkedIn! I have been able to make so many connections and relationships from Kappas and university staff alike.” – Cat Chadwick, Virginia Tech
“I’ve met so many Kappas, both active and alumna, which has expanded my network so much. I’m so grateful to be connected to so many women because of this opportunity.” – Jessica Rodgers, Florida State
“I expected to feel lonely at times in this job being so far from friends and family but each week I am welcomed into a new family. The loneliness only kicks in on the plane rides home after I say goodbye to my new friends!” – Rowan Dawson, Butler
7. Experiencing Kappa in a unique way
“It surprised me to get out of my own chapter bubble and see all the different traditions that make each chapter so special! Even though we all follow the same core traditions and structure, it’s so fun to see the unique ways each chapter celebrates our sisterhood.” – Anabelle Dillard, Whitman
“There are so many factors that make each chapter different from one another, but I love that sisterhood is so apparent and prioritized wherever I land. Our members are so welcoming, kind, and optimistic, and it’s incredible to see how Kappa impacts and defines their lives.” – Lauren Theisen, Drake
“Although each chapter is unique, Kappas all share the same mutual attitude of warmth and are all so genuine, which is an amazing reminder of why I chose Kappa and how proud I am to belong to this family!” – Sara Khouzam, Loyola
