No. You will be able to complete the same application if you are interested in serving as both a District Director and Fraternity Council member.
Campaigning for oneself or on behalf of another member for any leadership position is prohibited. Candidates are to be elected based on their qualifications and not on platforms. Campaigning is defined as working in an organized and/or active way to persuade members to support a candidate or to discourage members/delegates from voting in favor of another candidate in an unsolicited fashion. Reach out to [email protected] with any questions.
We ask that members make every attempt to complete all forms involved in the nomination process online. If you are experiencing difficulty, please contact Kappa Headquarters at 866-KKG-1870 for assistance.
PROVIDING FEEDBACK FOR ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES
The LSC relies on feedback as a critical piece of the process to slate leaders. This feedback provides important information on candidates from those who have worked with them across the organization and gives a holistic picture of how they have performed in other roles.
This is your opportunity to share your thoughts about these individuals’ skills, leadership abilities, experiences, and credentials to serve Kappa in an elected leadership position. Note: You may submit feedback on multiple individuals.
You may complete the feedback form once the list of nominees is published in mid-November through the deadline of Dec. 8.
The feedback form will ask you questions regarding a nominee’s leadership skills, experiences, strengths, and opportunities for growth. Specific examples of your interaction with a nominee will be helpful to the committee. The form is automatically sent to the Leadership Selection Committee Chair.
Note: Collegiate and alumna members and those who interact with Kappa volunteers (e.g., Kappa Headquarters staff, House Directors, etc.) will be asked to complete this form.
Provide a brief description of your working relationship with the nominee, including the number of years you worked together, your respective roles, and how long ago.
Example: Five years ago, I was a chapter adviser and worked with Karen for three years during her time as a District Director.
Feedback should be honest, concise, specific and based on personal interactions. Both positive and negative experiences, with concrete examples, are helpful as the committee evaluates each nominee’s skills and abilities as they relate to each elected role. Anecdotes and examples are also helpful.
Example: Karen always responded quickly to emails and phone calls and provided efficient solutions to problems. She helped guide our Content Specialist team, resolved a sensitive issue, and handled it fairly. Even though not every person involved was happy, every person felt heard.
Example: Sally was challenging to work with because she always felt that her ideas were best. We struggled to be heard during meetings because she would not allow time for questions or new ideas to be shared.
Feedback should be tied to the specific position descriptions and the ability of the nominee to fulfill the role as outlined.
Consider providing specific examples related to the following areas:
– Knowledge of the Fraternity (e.g., governing documents, content areas, and how Team Kappa — volunteers and staff — works together)
– Willingness to listen, respond, honor and solicit a wide variety of viewpoints
– Relationship and consensus building, collaboration, and how this person builds or works with a team
– Engagement and visibility
– Consistent, transparent, and informative communication
– Ability to think strategically
– Fraternity-first perspective
– Personal opinions on whether the candidate is liked/popular are not helpful to the committee’s decision.
– General feedback on the Fraternity or feedback not specific to a candidate on the list (e.g., about the Fraternity at large, all of Fraternity Council, Kappa Headquarters staff). Note: This type of feedback can be shared by emailing [email protected].
– Providing the same general comments on multiple candidates (i.e., copying/pasting the same comment without any specific examples or details).
– Comments on candidates who you have never worked with but have heard about or have been asked by others to submit. This is not helpful to the committee to understand whether a candidate’s skills and experience are best suited for the positions for which they have been nominated and are applying.
Please keep Kappa’s Human Dignity Policy in mind as you’re providing feedback: Kappa Kappa Gamma recognizes the value of each individual and expects its members to promote integrity, respect and regard for others, and appreciation for the worth of all individuals. Kappa Kappa Gamma values diversity and does not discriminate based on race, national origin, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation or other class protected by federal, state/provincial, or local law.
Completed feedback forms are kept confidential among the Leadership Selection Committee. Only the Leadership Selection Committee Chair and Vice Chair will see the name of the individual submitting the form. Your name will be removed prior to sharing the feedback with the rest of the committee.
The feedback submitted to the committee is given careful consideration. This information is extremely important to the overall process because you are the one who has worked closely with the individuals being considered.
