One of the most important responsibilities of membership is electing future leaders of Kappa Kappa Gamma.
HOW KAPPA’S LEADERS ARE SELECTED
Members are invited to:
• Recommend a member for a District Director and/or Fraternity Council position when nominations open.
• Complete an application for District Director and/or Fraternity Council when applications open.
• Complete the Feedback Form when the list of eligible candidates is shared.

Per the Fraternity Bylaws, a member meeting all member standards and responsibilities, academic, financial and conduct, and not under any accountability outcome is a member in good standing and, therefore, eligible for any elected, appointed, or volunteer position within the Fraternity. Members who wish to recommend a Kappa for nomination must also be in good standing.
Individuals qualified for election to a District Director position or to Fraternity Council shall be alumna members who have formerly served the Fraternity within the past 10 years in any one of the following positions: 1) member of Fraternity Council; 2) Regional Director or Province Director; 3) District Director or Content Director; 4) Content Specialist; 5) chair or member of a Fraternity Standing or Special committee; 6) Fraternity Council Assistant; 7) Field Representative; 8) member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation Board of Trustees; or 9) member of the Fraternity Housing Corporation Board of Directors.
A member who meets the eligibility and qualifications as outlined in the Fraternity Bylaws may submit an application for District Director and/or Fraternity Council and will be considered a nominee.
An individual may also be considered a nominee if they were recommended by a member in good standing, accept the recommendation, and submit an application for District Director and/or Fraternity Council.
The LSC nominates one candidate for each Fraternity Council and District Director position based on recommendations received from members and application materials received from candidates.
Voting members elect Fraternity Council officers, including a President, four Vice Presidents and a Treasurer, as well as 14 District Directors. An electronic election will occur at least eight weeks prior to Convention. Convention 2026 will be held at the Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, An Official Walt Disney World® Hotel, from June 25–27, 2026. Newly elected leaders are installed and assume full responsibility at the close of Convention. All elected positions are considered vacant at the end of each biennium.

The Leadership Selection Committee (formerly the Nominating Committee) is formed out of a broad representation of the membership. This committee will serve from March 2025 through August 2026. The LSC is tasked with compiling and presenting a slate of officers for Fraternity Council and 14 District Directors.
The LSC slates one candidate for each Fraternity Council and District Director position based on recommendations received from members and applications and other materials received from candidates. Throughout the biennium, the LSC educates the general membership on the nominating process and encourages member participation in the process.

The Leadership Selection Committee Chairman and Vice Chairman, both of whom are appointed by Fraternity Council, serve as nonvoting members of the committee. The voting members consist of seven alumna representatives and seven collegiate representatives — one from each of the 14 districts. The Leadership Education and Development Committee receives and reviews applications to the Leadership Selection Committee and makes recommendations to Fraternity Council, who appoints the LSC members. Per the Fraternity Standing Rules, in reviewing the applications, consideration will be given to diversity in the composition of the committee by geography, chapter and association size, campus size and type, leadership qualities, experiences, commitment, and ability to consider the best interests of the Fraternity.

• The Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Committee reviews applications and makes recommendations for the LSC appointments (collegiate and alumna) to Fraternity Council.

The Leadership Selection Committee attends the Fraternity Leadership Institute. Education of the Fraternity on the nominating and elections process begins.
• Nominations and applications for Fraternity Council and District Directors open.
Members may participate in the nominating process in three ways:
• Complete the recommendation form to recommend someone you think should be considered.
• Complete an application for District Director and/or Fraternity Council.
• Share feedback on candidates when the list is available during the process.
• Remember: A member must be in good standing in order to participate in the nomination process.
Once an individual is recommended:
• Kappa Headquarters will confirm the individual’s eligibility and qualifications as outlined in the Fraternity documents.
• If the recommended individual is eligible and qualified AND has not yet submitted an application, they will be sent an email letting them know they have been recommended. The email will ask them to complete an application if they are interested in being a nominee and considered for an elected position. The email will also give them the option to decline, thus removing them from the nominating process.
Once an individual completes an application:
• Kappa Headquarters will confirm the individual’s eligibility and qualifications as outlined in the Fraternity documents.
• If the individual is eligible and qualified, then they are now a nominee and will appear on the list of nominees.
• If an individual is not eligible or qualified, the Leadership Selection Committee Chairman will notify the individual. This individual will now be marked as unable to serve.

• The Leadership Selection Committee publishes the list of nominees as well as a list of those unable to serve.
• The feedback form opens. This provides all members an opportunity to provide additional information on the list of nominees. The feedback form will be live for several weeks.

• The Leadership Selection Committee meets regularly via Zoom to develop the slate of candidates, considering all information that has been submitted. Interviews or video submissions may also be included in the process.
• The Leadership Selection Committee Chair notifies individuals who have been selected as candidates for a position and confirms their consent. The chair will also call individuals who are not slated.
• The report of the Leadership Selection Committee shall be prepared and communicated to eligible voters no less than 12 weeks prior to the Convention per the Fraternity Bylaws.
• Following the publication of the report, open nominations from eligible voters shall be in order for at least 10 days provided the consent of the nominee has been obtained and the member is qualified.
• The election shall be completed at least eight weeks prior to the Biennial Convention.
• The report of the election results shall be sent electronically to the membership within five business days following the close of voting and shall be published on the Kappa website.
• Leadership transitions and training begin.
• Fraternity Council and District Directors are installed at the close of the Biennial Convention.
