How much does it cost?

Kappa will cover the majority of your costs.

Here’s what’s included:

  • Your double-occupancy hotel room.
  • Transportation to Columbus. (If you’re flying, your airfare will be booked by Direct Travel, Kappa’s travel partner, after your registration is confirmed. If you’re driving, you will submit mileage for reimbursement.) 
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner on Friday and Saturday will be provided. We suggest packing snacks in case you need extra fuel throughout the event.

Please keep in mind: You’re responsible for the cost of meals while traveling to and from Columbus. Plan to explore Columbus’ dining scene with Kappas during your first night in town. Kappa will reimburse your dinner on Thursday based on our financial policies, which allow $25 for dinner and require an itemized receipt.

 What are the dining options nearby?

Unless you’re an Early Owl, you’ll be on your own for dinner upon arrival on Thursday and for breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Sunday. Plan to explore Columbus’ dining scene with Kappas during your first night in town.

 When should I arrive?

Plan to arrive by 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, July 24. The main event kicks off on Friday, July 25.

How will I get from the airport to the hotel?

If you’re flying, plan to cover the cost of a taxi or rideshare service to get to and from the airport/hotel upon arrival and departure. Connect with Kappas in the Whova event app for carpooling opportunities.

Will I have roommates?

Yes. If you know someone attending and want to stay with them, you may both make the mutual request during registration to share a room.

A limited number of single rooms may be available after registration closes. Single-room requests will be filled based on your registration date. Attendees requesting single rooms will be charged the single room fee of $123 per night. If single rooms are available, attendees will be contacted by the Alumnae Experience Department in June.

What should I bring?

  • A bag to carry your items from session to session.
  • Something for taking notes.
  • Water bottle.
  • Your favorite snacks for fuel throughout the day. Note: Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided on Friday and Saturday. Snacks and Sunday breakfast will not be provided.

What should I wear?

Dress comfortably and casually. If you need suggestions, consider:

Thursday: Throw on your favorite letters.
Friday: Dress snappy casual (bonus points if it’s blue and blue).
Saturday: Show off your best blue and blue. Consider casual wear since we’ll be headed to the ballpark in the evening.

Conference rooms can be chilly. We recommend packing a sweater or light jacket.

How do I submit a mileage reimbursement if I’m driving?

Mileage reimbursements should be submitted with receipts via Concur by Aug. 31.

Can I bring my child or family?

As the Fraternity Leadership Institute is a formal meeting of the Fraternity, no children are permitted in any meeting space. Families are welcome at the hotel, but are not permitted in the defined meeting space.

Only invited, registered guests are permitted in the Fraternity Leadership Institute spaces. This includes, but is not limited to, meal and meeting spaces. Attendees must wear name tags, and name tags must be visible at all times to access the Fraternity Leadership Institute meeting spaces.
