Kappa Kappa Gamma Introduces Enhanced Member Education Program, Kappa Edge

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Oct. 19, 2020) – On the heels of its Sesquicentennial celebration, Kappa Kappa Gamma unveils its enhanced member education program, Kappa Edge — a tribute to the Founders’ legacy of valuing personal development, pursuing academic excellence and blazing new trails. Today, Kappa’s commitment to member education is as vibrant as ever. Through Kappa Edge — a lifelong learning program — members are challenged and supported as they grow as individuals, lead the way, and commit to excellence.
“Our Founders were among the first generation of women to pursue higher education at a time when many colleges and universities barred women from campus,” said Fraternity President Gail Owen, Monmouth. “Now, 150 years later, we honor their visionary leadership with Kappa Edge. In every stage of the Kappa experience, members will sharpen their advantage, find their edge, and build their confidence and courage to pursue their next big leap and soar.”

In Kappa Edge, members receive exclusive educational offerings under the learning paths of grow, lead and commit. This includes Career Academy, a new series and the first of its kind within Kappa. The cornerstone of the grow learning path, Career Academy promotes professional development through shared stories of other women’s career successes, obstacles, and tips and tricks for getting started or continuing a career journey.
Career Academy courses focus on five topics: How to Take Professional Risks, How to Return to the Workforce, Staying in Your Current Role, Negotiating, and How to be Adaptable and Pivot. Career Academy courses offer podcasts, videos and downloadable resources for all alumnae no matter where they are in their professional endeavors — from the newly graduated member to the busy working mother looking to make a career change.
“Just like our Founders, Kappa Edge is about learning for life,” said Marla Williams, Director of Education and Training. “Therefore, we strive to design curriculum that is flexible — meeting the members wherever they are in their self-discovery — and accessible — available to members whenever they need this benefit and however they prefer to learn.”
Career Academy begins Oct. 19 with the first of several live panel events broadcasted on Kappa’s Facebook page. Members will hear from leaders, executives, career consultants and human resource experts representing a variety of industries and companies, including PNC Bank, Hulu, Waffle House, the Environmental Protection Agency, GE Aviation and the United Way.
