Express Learning: Open Space Topics (Optional)

Choose your own adventure. Whether you need a study break, want to go work out, or desire to dive into deeper conversations on a topic that interests you most, the choice is yours.

Chapter officers have spoken and we’ve listened. Kappa has created a list of critical topics that you’ve identified as some of your chapter’s greatest challenges. Over the next hour and 15 minutes, we’ll be offering space to have these conversations with other chapter officers who are passionate about the same things. Visit one room for the entire session or hop from topic to topic.

Whether you already have questions and thoughts on the topic or are just interested in listening to learn more, this time is all about creating connections and working through solutions with fellow Kappa officers.

Topics include: dealing with chapter conflict; implementing diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives; building community in (and out!) of the chapter facility; holding peers accountable; philanthropy ideas; new officer structure best practices; managing the chapter calendar without getting overwhelmed; social media best practices in the age of TikTok; engaging your members for attendance, academics and more; and chapter history and ritual.

9:15–10:15 p.m.

Snack/Dessert Break

We love a late-night snack! Share a sweet treat and keep the conversations going.

9:15–10:45 p.m.

It’s a country dance party

Let’s go, Kappas! Grab your denim, boots and hat because when the sun goes down, we’re running to the dance floor. Dallas’ premiere line dance instructors will be teaching you the latest country line dancing moves. So come dressed and ready to strut your stuff at Kappa’s own hoedown.

District Meetings

We’ve invited District Directors so you and fellow officers from your district have time to translate everything you’ve learned at KLC and apply it to the unique landscape of your own district and campus.

During this time, you’ll also hear important announcements from your district, discuss goals for your term, and receive the tools you’ll need to make a positive impact on your chapter.

9:30–10:30 a.m.

Keynote

Women are taught to compete; compete for opportunities, acknowledgment and space. Many efforts at women’s empowerment stop only at the competition. What’s beyond it though?

Abby Conway has an answer. Instead of focusing on competing with one another, we should focus on how brightly we can shine together. In this signature program, a fresh take on developing powerful relationships, she shares how we can nurture our own light while simultaneously multiplying that of other women. In our organizations, leadership positions and life beyond campus, the path to the future will be illuminated by the light we produce together.

10:30–11 a.m.

Wrap-Up and Passing of the Light

Leave KLC ready to lead with purpose and action. Listen to President Mary Pat Rooney's closing message and experience the unforgettable moment of the Passing of the Light.
