In a nutshell, what do you do?

Leadership Consultants provide advice, support, and resources to chapters and advisers, and they serve as a link to the organization as a whole. They collaborate with chapters while providing guidance on leadership development, Membership Recruitment, organization, management, and so much more.

What does the interview process look like?

The interview process is similar to what you expect in other job interviews. After you submit your application, you’ll be notified if you’ve been invited to the first round of interviews, which is conducted via Zoom. After that, candidates are selected for the second round of interviews, which includes group and individual interviews with Fraternity representatives.

Working with chapter members across North America allows you to build connections — many that last a lifetime. Wait, is this a one-year or two-year position?

This is a one-year position, but there’s an opportunity to join the team for a second year. Second-year consultants mentor new Leadership Consultants and continue to grow in their professional development.

Will Leadership Consultants make in-person visits in 2024–25?

Yes! We’re planning for a hybrid schedule. Leadership Consultants will have both in-person and virtual visits with chapters.

When did you graduate?

Most Leadership Consultants are recent graduates. However, you don’t have to be a recent graduate or even in school to apply. We welcome anyone who feels they can bring something to the chapters and relate to collegiate and alumna members.

Where’s your home base?

Because we operate on a hybrid schedule of virtual and in-person visits to campuses, you can make almost anywhere a home base (at your own cost) as long as you have a good internet connection. While conducting an in-person chapter visit, your home base is your suitcase. If you’re a Leadership Consultant based at a new or established chapter, the school you work with will be your home base. While there, you’ll be provided a living space with a grocery budget and other necessities.

How will this experience benefit my future career?

The career benefits are endless. They range from relationship management and working with a variety of individuals to creative and analytical problem-solving skills. You’ll hone your decision-making capabilities and conflict resolution skills; develop experience with presentation, facilitation, crisis management, coaching and mentoring; and improve communication and interpersonal skills. All skills to level up your resume!

Former Leadership Consultants have said you get more experience in 10 months as a consultant than in the first 10 years of other careers.

Does Kappa cover travel costs?

Yes! Kappa covers the costs of chapter visits and scheduled time off. (Psst … You get Thanksgiving, winter break and spring break off.) However, when traveling for fun or taking a trip on a weekend off, Leadership Consultants pay their own way.

Is Executive Board experience required?

There are no specific requirements regarding Executive Board experience. While many Leadership Consultants have been actively involved in their chapters, it’s not required. Any leadership experience is valuable, including campus and community leadership experience.
