Kappa Kappa Gamma Will Pause Chapter Operations at the University of Miami in May 2015
COLUMBUS, Ohio (March 2, 2015)—It is with great sadness that Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity announces it will pause operations of Delta Kappa Chapter at the University of Miami in May 2015.
For more than a decade members of Delta Kappa Chapter have found it challenging to maintain competitive recruitment numbers with the other women’s Greek organizations on campus and have struggled to deliver the membership experience that Kappa expects for its members.
Kappa Kappa Gamma’s network of alumna member volunteers and Fraternity Headquarters staff have worked closely with Delta Kappa Chapter to provide the highest level of ongoing support. Unfortunately, the chapter has been unable to significantly increase its membership in order to flourish in the campus community. Chapter operations will remain in place and the chapter facility will remain open throughout the spring. At the end of the school year each undergraduate member will be granted alumna status.
The Delta Kappa Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma was founded 77 years ago on the University of Miami campus and has many dedicated alumna members.
“The members of Delta Kappa Chapter embody our values and ideals,” said Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity President Beth Black. “Fraternity Council arrived at this decision with a heavy heart.”
Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity hopes to reestablish Delta Kappa Chapter in 2017 per the National Panhellenic Conference membership growth plan.
