The Fraternity Changes to a Regional Meeting Format for 2015
(Sept. 19, 2013) —In order to provide all members of Kappa Kappa Gamma with the best possible training and leadership development opportunities, our governing body, Fraternity Council, has recently voted to conduct province business in a regional meeting format for 2015. During these seven regional meetings, attendees will spend less time on protocol and more time learning additional strategies to be a more effective chapter or association officer.
Kappa will offer participants greater opportunity for networking and idea sharing, giving them a broader, bigger picture view of Kappa. As always, the Fraternity will provide those in attendance, with a special experience that will rekindle everyone’s Kappa spirit.
Fraternity Council will plan the program, in coordination with Kappa’s Department of Education and Training. The Fraternity Meeting Coordinator will work with a professional meeting planning company to secure the hotel meeting space, and will also handle contracts, registration (through Fraternity Headquarters), meals, equipment needs and all other logistics. Facilitators for the educational sessions may include Fraternity Council members, Regional Council members, Kappa Trainers and subject matter specialists. The meetings will take place during the months of February, March and April of 2015, based on academic calendars and holidays.
Since our Fraternity Bylaws state that the purpose of Province Meetings is “…to elect Province Directors, provide leadership training, discuss matters of mutual interest and make recommendations to the Regional and Fraternity Councils,” the regional meetings will allocate time for each province to elect officers and conduct any other pertinent business.
With the new plan, Kappa hopes to lay a strong foundation of enhanced volunteer and educational experiences for many years to come.
